A Legacy of Faith Since 1992
Founded in 1992 - Johannesburg, South Africa
Apostolic Worship Centre is the church of Jesus Christ founded in 1992 through prayer sessions that were held by a young couple Wilfred and Thandiwe Zilawo Mpofu and one of their friends at a flat in Seven Oaks on Catherine Avenue, Berea, Johannesburg.
In the same year, as friends, neighbours and others who were drawn by the LORD from different places joined, the prayer group outgrew the flat at Seven Oaks and propelled the group to move to a hall in Braamfontein where Wilfred and his wife Thandiwe were officially appointed as pastors as the church grew and God doing many wonders amongst the Saints.
The Church continued to grow and God intervened and made a way for the church to occupy the Johannesburg City Hall for many years before moving to Beit street in Doornfontein, then in 2007 moved to Plein Street in Doornfontein, where the church has been located to date.
The Great Commission
Apostolic Worship Centre is founded on the doctrine and great commission that was given to the Apostles about the kingdom of God, to go out into the whole world and make disciples through preaching the word of God, baptising in the name of Jesus Christ and demonstrating the power of God through signs and wonders.
Led by Bishop Wilfred Zilawo Mpofu and Pastor T Mpofu, who are the senior pastors, our belief is centred around the second coming of our LORD Jesus Christ and that it is the core mission of His Church to prepare His bride, which is the Saints for His second coming.
Our focus is on nurturing a fruitful believer and complete overcomer, a leader who is spiritually, emotionally, physically and intellectually prepared and ready to take on the world and attain good success, through our engagement and cooperation of the five-fold ministries and excellence of the nine spiritual gifts.
Our Purpose & Calling
To serve God through attracting and inducting people into the kingdom God through discipleship, loving people, charity work and transforming individual lives and communities through the preaching of the word of God, baptising in the name of Jesus Christ and equipping people with the knowledge of God, and other critical skills that help individuals and communities obtain stability and sustainability.
